Homecoming

The glitter and glamour is all she was looking to lose at the end of the decade long shades of paint brushes on her face…the shines and bright fillers were the only things she didn’t want to pack with her. The long, lost dreams of a crackled unnoticed little heart were gone for good. But there was a little sparkling fountain in her monster, she knew it was there, somewhere some lid has to be removed and once again it will be like before. The water from the fountain will cover the cracks and soothe all her rough surfaces with a motherly calm; it resembled the water from the old earthen pot back at her childhood, the satisfying feeling from that thirst is what she was looking forward to. She didn’t mind spending her pious self all these years, as she kept herself relieved from all the deluding opportunities of love. She made sure that her pronounced Brazilian beauty is all a ramification of the past. The old farm at her house in that humble village of hers, where the rest of the days will be all black and white.

Before leaving the job, she made sure that she paid all the previous cuts to Peter. Peter, the hard-working agent of hers, who is as responsible for her diverse and well paid clientele as herself.

Only thing she is worried about is the face. The frosted baked skin will be too much for the kids on that airplane; the one that will take her back home. A hefty amount of the insurance money has gone in the reconstruction of what could be salvaged from the little remaining face tissue. Before leaving, she threw all her spunk in that room of hers, the collection of her nose pins she left for the cranky unworthy roommate. She won’t be needing them now. The doctor explained multiple times of the harm the pollution could do if she left her freshly carved face out in the open. She felt thankful outside the operation theatre and eternally grateful for all the people who attended her. She was happy to spin the accident into an unfortunate inevitable of her fate. She thought Mamma and little Casidy will be happy at her return and everything else will just settle in, eventually. She didn’t want to expose her little sister to the gruesome ways of this world.

Little did she know that people are as better in this world as they are brutal. The authorities were desperate as were the section on the other side of the television. The acid attack on the sex worker was the news headlines in all the places around her including the humble village of hers.

When she finally arrived back at the place which was her own, her defenseless people were waiting for her.

Little Casidy along with Mamma and all the rest of the forgotten crowd all were aware.

The victim felt, at first empty and then all assembled again. The mother’s arms removed the lid and she felt her fountain once again.
